Thing #6

Ipod Touch

This post took me a while, because I had to go to the Apple Store to actually use one. My daughter in college has one, but she is in summer school, so I couldn't borrow it. I enjoyed the gadget, and there are a lot of fun applications, but I think it is going to take me longer to think of a really good way to use this in the library for multiple students. Sorry, but sometimes I require more thinking time, and the apps on here seem to be sort of individualized, so it is harder for me to think of something for multiple students to do. Here is what I came up with so far:

  • AirSharing--documents on the go. Multiple students could edit a document or documents.
  • Quick Voice--make a voice note. I have to admit that this one was one of my favorites. I love the idea of giving myself reminders. For multiple students this could perhaps be used as a sort of "pay it forward" type of thing. Perhaps each one adds something and then passes it on to the next one. Sort of like a voice thread, but on the Ipod Touch.
  • One of the Google Apps lets you look at YouTube videos (and upload) Groups of students might look for videos about a certain topic, or be assigned to watch certain videos as part of another assignment. The I-Touch could be passed around and used for viewing by one, while another is doing something else.

This is probably my weakest area so far. I have not been an Apple user really, so this gives me something to work on for this coming year!
