This is something I have been meaning to spend more time on, and just never got around to it. I am glad it was on our list of Things! I made a video about how to use Zamzar. We have a number of students who come into the library and then panic because they used Word Perfect or some other type of word processor at home and cannot view their project at school. We use Zamzar a lot for these little emergencies, since it is the fastest way to get the problem solved. Then I explain how to save in rtf format or use Google Docs, whatever the student would benefit from. So, I made a very amateurish video. I think I will re-do this and actually use it, sans the heavy breathing.
I can see these little short how to videos being great helps for many of the regular questions we get in the library, especially when the mornings are so busy, or when there is a class, but one of our lunch friends or a visitor from another class needs to know how to do something. I think this may be my new project for the year, to help make students more self sufficient. I think some of my lunch friends can help me make them as well!
