Thing #7

The two sites I liked the best for this assignment were the National Archives channel on YouTube and Hulu. I have used Hulu before, but it has expanded and gotten better since the last time I looked. The video I would be able to use there is actually a series called Building Green. I have an Environmental Science teacher who does a unit on green building materials and this series would be perfect for that. There were very few commercials, just the beginning one for Target, and you could queue it up to be past that for class. I am not sure it would work at school, though. When I tried to play it at school, I got an error message, so I had to play it at home to watch it. There may be some adjustment we could make or ask technology to make to get it to work, though. The National Archives channel had several good videos about space exploration. I am currently working on a unit about the Mercury astronauts using archival materials, so I could use one of these as an introduction. They are mostly nice and short, but they are somewhat dated, and sometimes it is hard to get kids to watch them because of that. I would have to try it to see if it worked. There were also several newsreels about World War II that could be used in our history of wars class, so I will be sharing those with that teacher as well. We have limited YouTube access at school, and I was able to play the videos from this channel at school. So that is great!
