Thing #4

Here is my user profile and videos on TeacherTube. My videos so far are all book trailers. I have been thinking of branching out and making some for orientation or searching, but there are so many good ones out there already, that I am still looking for an unfilled niche. As far as having videos available to steam on these sites, there are many advantages. You don't need storage space, you can find videos to go with almost any subject, and they are short, which is a plus in planning class time. Most of the time you just need an introduction or a segue or a quick how to, and these types of videos fit the bill perfectly. The disadvantages are that sometimes streaming doesn't work well , and can time out, or be interrupted while viewing. One solution is to download, but then you lose the storage advantage and many sites do not allow downloading as part of the usage agreement. Posting student videos offer a different set of pluses and minuses. Pluses are they can share their work with other classes and other students. Minuses are that student videos are often not of the quality needed to use in teaching. Although, I have seen some excellent student work, and parents would also be able to see their students' presentations--another plus.
