Skype sounds like fun! I have been wanting to try it for a long time, and now I am going to sign up. I liked many of the ideas that I saw in the articles. The one I am going to put on my to do list for this year is a Skype author visit, hopefully for my book club. I know there are some authors who will Skype for free. The other ideas that I loved, and may try are getting two classes together for a discussion or debate via Skype, letting parents view presentations via Skype, having a guest speaker or a museum visit or a field trip via Skype. The possibilities are really endless. One of my other favorites was the Skype reference. I was a little surprised that the university said it wasn't being used that much, but perhaps IM works better for college students. I know if I had a reference question while I was in my dorm room, I wouldn't necessarily want anyone to see me either. The school was using kiosks, and one of the commentors suggested that perhaps students preferred more privacy. All very interesting and useful.
