Either way, I think there is some evidence that change is in the wind...
You may also want to check out this article about the prep school in Boston that got so much flack for reimagining their library without a lot of physical books, and this article about the Harvard University libraries and changes that may be coming their way.
I am not saying it will be tomorrow, but e-books may be here to stay like it or not. Self publishing may be what happens in the future as well as the past.
