TLA part 2

I promised to upload Shelby's matrix from the Prepared, Really? presentation, and it is on the sidebar.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the presentation or need any additional information.

Now, I am going to give a shout out to my favorite session from TLA last week:

1001 Great Ideas:  Libguides  presented by Zandra Lopez and Diana Pierce from Leander ISD

I went to this session, because after reading Joyce Valenza's post about her move to libguides, I was considering taking the plunge myself.  I am so glad I went.  Zandra and Diana presented very well, and they showed us several examples of the libguides they had done as project pages and as library pages.  They took away some of the fear of a new system by showing us all where the help pages were and the community of libguides users.  Two things they said really stood out to me--first that they had teachers requesting them to make libguides--this is huge.  The libguides had become a collaboration tool and a way to embed library services into assignments.  The second was that if they only had $500 to spend  for the next school year (about the amount of a single school license) they would spend it on libguides.  This is no empty praise, considering many of us in Texas are looking at major budget cuts.

Here are the links they provided in the session if you would like to find out more:

Diana and Zandra have done an awesome job of taking a unique technology tool like LibGuides and making it work for all their users. The LibGuides platform enables school librarians to connect, support and contribute to the learning communities we're all working to build.
