I feel vindicated...

If you have read the March/April issue of American Libraries, you may have seen an article about Dexel University Libraries on p. 13.  In it, they are discussing how they will use library space in their commitment to learning.  That's right learning, which is in my opinion the mission of a library.  They held student meetings and one of the things to come out was that students
"associated the library with study in a way that they didn't with coffee shops or third places."
(emphasis mine)

So, perhaps we should rethink the "chasing after the wind" that we all seem to be engaged in.  Our tribe (see my last post) wants to learn, and they need a specific type of place to be able to do that.  We need to be that place.  The learning place.

I loved your comment - I will make it my mantra too! Your few words have crystalized my thinking nicely - now I must get the ideas sorted to understand and explain them.
