Why I love my Kindle...
I am one of the legion of librarians who received a kindle for Christmas. I suppose our loved ones must know us pretty well! One reason I love it is the way it makes learning and discovery possible--quickly. I have been reading Death Cloud, the first in the Young Sherlock Holmes series by Andrew Lane. In one section, there is a book of poetry mentioned that intrigued me--the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. In particular, the one translated by Edward Fitzgerald. Well, I wanted to read some of the poems, as I was interested after reading a little about them in the book. it was about 10:30 PM--no way was I going to the library or the book store. I pulled out my Kindle, I searched for the book, and imagine my joy at discovering the poetry book, by the same translator available for just $.99! Great, I downloaded it, and was able to look through the poems immediately, without having to wait until the next day. Who says serendipity doesn't exist in the world of ebooks!

I did the same thing in your session at TLA today. In a matter of seconds I had downloaded the Wagner and George books into my Amazon account and delivered them to my iPad, the device I was carrying with me at the time. Amazing!!!
