Thing #2 part 1

This thing is about image generator tools. First I looked at Wordsift, since I had already used Wordle. Here is my word sift from the US Constitution:

Sorry--it is a little small. What I did was copy and paste the text of the entire US Consitution into WordSift. The results were very interesting. As you can see, State was the largest word, so it was mentioned most frequently. The fact that it makes hot links is interesting, but I did not find the websites that great. That part of it would probably work better for more specific words/documents. The best part of it, and what I thought would be most useful for students was the section where it locates the words in the original text of your document. This would be a great help to students doing analysis of text or looking for contextual meanings or uses. I can see that saving students tons of time in looking for quotations to support arguments, uses of a word, a number of things.
I have used both Glogster and VoiceThread. Glogster would be useful for making a visual representation with links to definitions, additional information, etc. It can also be used to great effect in web pages, wikis and blogs. VoiceThread is a very interesting tool. I tried to talk one of my social studies teacher into using it on a unit about veterans of war. I thought the students could select images from the American Memory project at LOC and then comment on them or give information about them. The teacher didn't do it, but I have high hopes for next year. I am thinking about making a sample, so he can see what I mean.

I have added my voki below. It is not great, but it is OK. As far as the questions for this section, perhaps the email would be more fun, at least the first few times, but this seems more like just a fun thing to play with. I did see at TLA where someone used it for a book talk, though, so maybe you could use them as introductions to a new topic/unit/idea. it would definitely be attention grabbing.

I will continue with Bookr in my next post! This is turning out to be a lot of fun...
