I was looking at some academic library websites when I found something I think can be very useful and time saving. Many people put delicious tag clouds on their blogs, etc., but I saw an innovative use for it at the Polytechnic University's Dibner Library. Rather than having a page with classified links to websites for students, they used a tag cloud from an institutional account at delicious to let students look at delicious links for research. It's a fabulous idea! Once the tag cloud is on your library's website, you never have to update it again. Every time you add a link to the library's delicious account and tag it, the cloud will automatically be updated to reflect the addition. No more adding reference links to your school's web site, just add and tag in delicious, which is much faster. I have added a cloud to Wakeland High School database page as well, although it is still in the infant stages. I may be stating the obvious to some, but I found this very exciting.
